Dropped Off Working, Collected in Limp Mode
I took my BMW to e-car Menlyn for a simple preventative suspension repair (steering rack ends, quoted around R2,400). On the first booking, they didn’t even have the parts and sent me away after I had already arranged transport — very unprofessional.
On the second attempt, they called to say the car was ready. When my wife collected it, the car wouldn’t start and went straight into limp mode with warning lights everywhere. The manager’s first response to me was, “Is there something you are hiding from me?” — despite the car being dropped off in perfect condition.
A few days later, they claimed water had entered the ECU and told me to call my insurance, saying they aren’t liable for anything they didn’t directly work on. The ECU ultimately had to be replaced and reprogrammed at a cost of ~R20,000. An independent specialist confirmed burn damage consistent with an electrical short, with no clear evidence of water corrosion.
When I had the car towed away, parts they had removed were dumped inside the vehicle. To make matters worse, once I finally got the car back on the road, the suspension was knocking again — bolts not properly tightened during the rack end installation (not the first time this has happened there).
Two months without my car, R20k out of pocket, and zero accountability.
Avoid.

E-Car exceeded my expectations. I took my car for major service about 3 days ago. Getting a quote and confirming the booking was super easy. Their staff are friendly and offer their best service. They made an effort to call and update me after the completion of each step. Their prices are reasonable compared to dealerships. I highly recommend

I had an outstanding experience with this workshop from the moment I arrived. The staff were friendly, welcoming and very knowledgeable. The workshop is clean and well organised, which gives you confidence in the quality of their work. I also appreciated that they gave me all the old parts back after the service and repairs. It shows honesty, transparency and pride in their workmanship.
Migette truly stood out. Her communication was excellent throughout the entire day. Every time she told me she would call back at a specific time, she did so exactly on time. That level of reliability is rare and made the whole experience even better.

Service was always good, but ECar has a new owner. I took my car in for a general service. I told them about a funny noice when driving and turn the wheel. When I got my car back , the glove box wasnt put back properly and fell down to the floor. The power stearing wheel oil was not changed and was about completely dried up, that was the reason for the weird noice om the stearing rod. And they are not fairly priced

Brought Audi here to have my turbo fixed. The car was kept for a very, very long time. They mentioned having to dissemble the car to get to the turbo because it was hard to reach. Got the car back with a broken steering column. It was perfectly fine when the car was left with them. We were quoted R70 000 to replace this.

I’m really satisfied with the service I received from E-Car Menlyn! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and taken care of. Sonika is such a professional young lady. She assisted me with the settlement of the amount and explained everything in detail, making sure I understood exactly what I was paying for. She also thoroughly explained what needs to be done on my vehicle to make it feel like new again.
Although Eugene was my service advisor, I spent most of the day speaking to Sonika, and I must say the way she and Eugene work together is amazing, they’re completely in sync, which really gave me confidence in the team.
I’ve already booked my vehicle for Monday to get the rest of the work done. What an amazing team! Highly recommend E-Car Menlyn.

I requested e-Car Menlyn to replace my vehicle's front bearings. 2 other companies could not assist within my time frame. After leaving the vehicle with them, they first performed a test drive and then informed me that the bearings were not faulty. They could gave just replaced them, but opted to rather loose out on the money and spare my the expense. Great service

Worst possible service.Had my car there 3 times with the same problem.Paid everytime.Just got is back for the third time and the problem is worse.Now they admit that they cant find the problem.I now have to take it to another workshop to fix the problem since they cant fix it.I will net recomend that you take your car there since they take no resposability

Best experience i have ever received at a service centre. I called to make a booking and Sonica one of the advisors greated me so professional and so kind. When i brought the vehicle everyone made eveything so easy. I can see these people have a good work related relationship. Back to how my services went she gave me a quotation and kept me and my dad updated right through the day which almost never happens when i take my vehicle to work shops.She explained everything throughly which is shocking to me as shes such a young lady and knows so much.The services i received wasn't over priced at all i paid a decent amount for the work that has been done. When i came and collected the vehicle it was cleaned throughly without a charge. I would definitely recommend my friends and family to your company .Thank you for this great experience!
