Like the AA for example. The AA is world-renowned for its 24-hour emergency roadside assistance services and we’ve partnered with them to give ALL of our service and/or repair customers these services too as part of our e-CAR club membership benefit. So should you need help on the road – anytime, anywhere – all you need to do is call the emergency number on the front of your membership card, press 1 for roadside assistance, and the AA’s swift and professional recovery team will be dispatched to you. It’s one of your membership perks.*
Remember though, that should you have the misfortune of a breakdown or accident, it’s important you explain that the AA is on its way and not to let anybody else tow you (unless the AA call center advises any differently). Unfortunately, there are a lot of unauthorised towing companies on our roads that will happily take you and your car for a ride, making you pay double or triple (!) the average price to have your car released once they have it hooked on their vehicle.
You’ll be interested to know too that nobody can take and tow your vehicle without your permission. The National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 in Section 61(3) says: “…no person shall remove a vehicle involved in an accident, except for the purpose of sufficiently allowing the passage of traffic, without the permission of the owner, driver or operator of such vehicle or a person who may lawfully take possession of such a vehicle.”
So remember, if you break down and need to be towed, insist that only the AA or an AA authorised contractor tows you. It’s part of our e-CAR promise to give you the best, and with the AA by your side, you can be guaranteed you’ll be towed to safety.
Club members get ONE TOW per year, so make it count. The first 40 kilometers are paid for in full by the e-CAR Club. Every km over this limit will be charged at AA rates and will be at your own cost.
